After observing the experimenting with plastic bottle caps that the Kamaishi students conducted, we (the AC plastics team) decided to try and do it too. We started by melting down plastic bottles using an iron. We found that they were most useful when three caps were placed into a triangle and melted together to form a larger sheet of plastic. We then modded a handful of these sheets around a glass cup to mould our creation around. We then used the iron to secure the individual sheets together. The cup we made was not bad however we now need to look into how we can make our products food safe for the future.
