We have established contact with a local primary school. Our idea is to go into the primary school with a presentation on the problem of ocean plastic pollution, what is being done to solve it, and how Precious Plastics as an idea and as a project fits into the web of solutions. We will tailor the presentation to make it understandable and engaging for the young audience, and we will go on to explain a competition for them to participate in. We will leave a large storage container in each classroom; the competition will be to see which class is able to collect the most plastic in a given amount of time. Hopefully this will motivate the kids to participate enthusiastically in collecting the plastic. We will send an information sheet home with the kids on the types of plastics we would like to collect, for them to give to their parents / guardians. After a month we will go back to collect the plastic, with some prizes for the winning class. In the future we hope to use this model and expand to other schools / groups in the area.
